Cleste came out on 1/26/24 and just two days later on the 26th the first ever speedrun with a time of 1h 08m 12s 410ms was completed by seckswrecks on speedrun.com. Merly a week late the world record time had dropped to 39m 50s 302ms which was set by Magolor9000. Later techniques that allowed you to gain much more distance than before. These techniques are called hypers and supers. They give more speed and distance which allowed speedrunners to go faster and dropping times. Then DemoJameson discoverd the "demodash" by crouching and dashing within a certain intervel you would dash with a smaller hitbox allowing you to clip through objects. Now the fastest time ever was set by secureaccount on 8/12/23 with a time of 25m 19s 919ms. If you would like to look more at the time history you can look on speedrun.com
